Turkey Tail Tincture
This extract is prepared from the fan-shaped, multicolored fruiting bodies of Turkey Tail, a well-known medicinal mushroom revered in Traditional Chinese Medicine and widely studied in modern biomedical research for its immune-modulating properties. At Asheville Herbals, we use only wild-harvested fruiting bodies, never myceliated grain, and prepare them through a double extraction process that honors both the water-soluble polysaccharides and alcohol-soluble triterpenes.
This is a daily support extract—deeply grounding, fortifying, and ideal for long-term use.
Scientific Profile
Turkey Tail contains one of the most well-documented profiles of any medicinal mushroom:
Beta-glucans (1,3 and 1,6): Polysaccharides that modulate both innate and adaptive immunity—balancing, not overstimulating
Polysaccharide-K (PSK) & Polysaccharide-P (PSP): Protein-bound polysaccharides studied extensively in Japan and China for their immune effects in clinical settings
Phenolic compounds & antioxidants: Support cellular resilience and reduce oxidative stress
Sterols and triterpenoids: Provide gentle liver support and contribute to adaptogenic resilience
Unlike immunostimulants, Turkey Tail works over time to train and harmonize the immune system—making it ideal for long-term support of wellness, recovery, and immune balance.
Energetic & Traditional Wisdom
Energetically, Turkey Tail is a forest weaver—connecting root and canopy, decay and renewal. It teaches us to transform stagnation into resilience, and to adapt with grace through cycles of change. In TCM, it is said to tonify Qi, particularly that of the Spleen and Lung—supporting breath, digestion, and long-term stamina.
As a decomposer, its wisdom is in breaking down what is no longer needed and recycling it into strength. For those moving through long-term healing, immune depletion, or emotional fatigue, Turkey Tail offers slow medicine: cumulative, fortifying, and quietly powerful.
How to Use
Take 1–2 dropperfuls in water or tea up to 3x daily. Best taken consistently over weeks or months. May be used during seasonal transitions, times of immune vulnerability, or as part of a long-term resilience protocol.
Pairs well with other mushrooms such as reishi, chaga, or lion’s mane.
Ingredients:
Wild-harvested Trametes versicolor fruiting body, organic cane alcohol (95%), distilled water
Safety & Contraindications:
Generally regarded as safe. May mildly stimulate the immune system—consult a qualified practitioner if you are on immunosuppressive medications, recovering from organ transplant, or managing autoimmune conditions. Not for use during pregnancy unless guided by a knowledgeable practitioner.
